On Saturday 18 June, the SCCI Chairman Paul Keane and his wife Siobhán invited all members to their home for a traditional Swedish Midsummer party. The plan was to mark the beginning of the nice weather. However it was pouring down the whole evening! So instead of focusing on the weather we enjoyed an evening of traditional Swedish midsummer food and schnapps.
There were about forty guests at the event, a mixture of Swedes, Irishmen, Danes and Finns. We had a very pleasant evening together. After a couple of Schnapps, all contributed with typical songs from their country. The most impressive singers came without doubt from Ireland. The Swedes are not as comfortable singing in front of a crowd and can really only sing schnapps songs (take it from a Swede).
We are very much looking forward to a similar Midsummer event next summer.
