The Volvo Ocean Race brought a great week of excitement and glamour to Galway. There were enormous crowds and the magnificent sailing machines that compete in the race cut through Galway Bay with great spectacle.
Volvo hosted a huge pavilion in the race village showing their latest offering of cars. These included new hybrid vehicles and amazing concept cars.
For the first time, the brand new Volvo V40 was revealed to the Irish public. The car is in an all-new premium 5-door, 5-seat hatchback with a striking profile and luxurious and spacious interior.
Volvo Ireland also announced the appointment of Adrian Yeats as managing director in succession to David Baddeley. David, who has been a great supporter of the Chamber, is returning to the UK after seven years in Ireland to take up the role of Customer Service Director for Volvo Car UK.
Adrian has been with Volvo for 15 years having previously worked for Nissan in the Netherlands. Members of the Chamber will already be familiar with Adrian, who has been to a number of our meetings over the years. He takes on a big task, but the new exciting range of Volvo cars should make it a little easier!
We congratulate Adrian on his appointment and look forward to seeing him, and his wife Liz, at many of the Chamber’s events in the future.
