Tasty talk with Birgitta Curtin from the Burren Smokehouse – 2 February 2016

Birgitta Curtin - Burren Smokehouse in presentation modeFor the first lunch with speaker for 2016 the members and guests of SCCI were treated to a most interesting and entertaining talk by SCCI member Birgitta Curtin, founder of the Burren Smokehouse. She told us about going from selling smoked fish to passing tourists to now selling both individual fish to gift hampers containing smoked fish all around the world including being chosen to supply the fish for the official dinner held for Queen Elizabeth when she came to visit Ireland. The talk included tasting some of the products (Salmon of course!) that the Burren Smokehouse offers and explaining the difference between a hot smoked fish and a cold smoked fish.
One thing is now certain: when visiting the Burren and county Clare this will be a place that must not be missed!
